What Is Godaddy?
Hello, welcome back to Six Figure Mastermind. Question of the day: What is Godaddy? Stay tuned, let me tell you about it. Godaddy, you've probably never heard of it, you've probably heard of it, and you don't know what it is, so I'm going to break this down for you in very simple terms and we'll go on to throw a shout out to Chris Crohn because we're going to talk about some real estate terms here, OK. So think of the internet as the world on a blank slate and every website is a home or
business on the internet, okay. Godaddy is basically one of many people or many companies that allow you to buy real estate online, well. So Godaddy that hosts so-called domains and when you think of a domain, think of a plot, well. So a plot can be an acre, it can be 25 acres, it can be any different size, domains are kind of the same, domains are basically part of the internet that you can buy and you can buy domains that host 5GB of space, you can buy Domains that host a few
terabytes of space. Which means that this domain can have a little or a lot of it. Now for the average joe, for the average entrepreneur, you don't really have to worry about how much space your domain takes up unless you're someone who like photography or video making and will have to host a lot of information on your site. Even so, there are some other sites that can do it for you but that's the difference.. So you want to host a site, let's say you want to host a site like
janesartsandcrafts.com. The first thing you need to do is go to your domain service provider and Godaddy is one of those and you will go to Godaddy and you will type
janesartsandcrafts.com and see if this domain is reserved. If it has already been taken, you usually have one of two options. The first option is to just change the website, either make it .net or .info or even change the wording in the website name itself. The other option you will have is to see if you can buy the website from that person who already owns it and remember we are only talking
about the land now. We're not even talking about the structure of the house or the workplace, okay. So janesartsandcrafts.com, if it already exists, you have the option to buy it, if it doesn't already, you have the option to buy it as is, okay. So when you do, you'll buy what's called again, a
domain. He considered it a piece of land. So when you buy janesartsandcrafts.com, you have purchased the plot of land you have your shop to sit on. You don't own the store yet, that's a
different purchase, okay.
So let's say you went to Godaddy it was available
, janesartsandcrafts.com, you would pay between $9 and $15 to get this site annually. So it's very affordable, and it's very easy to get that unquoted land, isn't it? Once you buy the land, you need to buy the house that spans the land. This is the difference between a domain and a website. The domain is the land the house sits on, and the website is the house that's on the land, okay. Chris right? here we are. So once you go to Godaddy you will buy the domain and Godaddy will either provide your website hosting for you which means you will hire Godaddy as an independent contractor and they will build a house
according to your plans or you can move to another website like pixiset or wix or any other type of host Websites are in service and buy your website there which is just like real estate because once you get the land you have to choose an architect, designer and interior decorator and that is exactly the same for your website. So once you buy your domain, you don't feel compelled to buy a hosting service right away. Feel free to shop around, feel free to check out other web hosting
services that might be useful for your niche. So for example, photographers have this whole bunch of other website services that might be a perfect fit for their specific niche, maybe designers have the same thing, maybe artists have the same thing, maybe people like Shopify, they have the same things you open in a store, okay. Depending on your different industry, you will need a different web hosting service after getting your domain. Now a lot of people will sell the domain and web hosting
service together, that's okay. Just do some shopping before you make your final choice. So after you get your domain, you need to buy your house and put it in the domain. For example, I went to
janesartsandcrafts.com, the domain was bought but the house was not and I went there, he will say, this domain is owned by such and such, feel free to start building if you are, ok. If you haven't bought your home yet, then you'll see. When you buy your home, your own web hosting service,
you will start building your website on this domain
and when all is said and done, when people go to janesartsandcrafts.com they will not see the host of the domain but they will see this beautiful website that you designed, that you put together Or you hired someone to do it, okay. Godaddy will do both for you, they have templates, they have wizards, they have stock images, they have money, everything you need, blue host, you have Wix. Lots of people do it for you but Godaddy is an
essential because it's so cheap to get a domain for you, $15 a year. So when if you're thinking about going to work for yourself, if you think you want a wesbite bite, you're thinking you want to put that together, go with Godaddy. They have served me really well, I use them, I am a customer of them,
and you will love what you find. Was the video useful to you? I can't wait to see everyone share your websites on social media. Hit the subscribe button and I'll see you tomorrow.
